Product without Quality Control

Pros: Good colour, lowest price megapixel camera
Cons: Unreliable, poor Quality Control, no zoom
The Bottom Line: I hope there is a new version of this camera without those bugs.

I purchased this product at around USD130 in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Dec.2001. It seems that the QC wasn't performed at all by Umax. Some products have problems with its LCD display (segments cannot clearly displayed). I took one with best display although it's still not perfect. After 1-2 weeks, I got problems with SmartMedia memory. I bought new one with 32MB capacity, and the problem happened again. So, it must be the camera that destroy the memory. After complaining to the distributor, I got a replacement for camera & memory(this time the LCD is worse than first one). Still, sometimes memory problems occurs, although it is not a permanent one, especially if there is a lot of pictures inside. The worst happened last week. I thought SmartMedia destroyed again. I can only upload the first 2 pictures (next pictures were always corrupted) and can't perform 'Delete All' function from supplied software. After several attempt by switching modes, recording videos, etc. the problem suddenly disappear. It should be a bug from camera! The problem will raise very often if the battery is shown at 2/3 of its indicator. Sometimes images can't be stored, camera can't be started, etc. The color that it produces is ok at highest quality (it is blocky especially on dark color on lower resolution). But it is not very good when shooting indoor. You have to perfectly still or use slave flashlights. I don't recommend this buggy camera.
