| Farelle's Full Review: Vivitar ViviCam 2700 Digital Camera |
I have been waiting on this camera from Onsale (Egghead) for weeks, it got lost at UPS but now I wish it would have just stayed "lost"! Overall, my rating for this camera is fair-poor.
**The camera itself is large and bulky, but it is easy to upload photos to the compute.
**The LCD eats batteries in no time (if you turn the LCD screen off though, you can use it like a regular camera...batteries last for a while). Just a note, when you order an AC adaptor from Vivitar for this to save on batteries, expect to receive an "out of stock" notice in your email box.**
**The software included isn't that great, but that's easily remedied if you buy separate software.
The photo quality is what really gets me not liking this camera. The photos are usually grainy, or the lighting isn't correct (I have the flash on auto, but that doesn't seem to help either). There is a button on the front of the camera so you can choose how big you want the "eye" of the camera to be when taking a photo, and then you can judge your flash needs from there but that is so much to do...it should be much easier than this. Also, sometimes that doesn't guarantee you a decent picture either. This camera is not consistent and the colors are not true to life either, they tend to run very, very red (at least mine do, my carpet is beige but always comes out pink in the photos).
Basically, it's a digital camera at a pretty good price, however caveat emptor...because you pay for what you get; not much in this case, unfortunately. If you really want a camera that takes excellent, true life photo's this is NOT the camera for you. However, if you want a camera for a first timer or for a child-teen, or just to practice on...this is a good bet.
