| kd7iwp's Full Review: Kodak KE 60 35mm Film Camera |
When I wanted to purchase a cheap autofocus 35mm camera I found this one because of its features for the price. This camera does a lot.
Kodak came up with a new thing called "easy load." Good job Kodak. I always disliked loading 35mm camera's for fear of not pulling out the leader enough. Well that problem has been solved with extra benefits. With this camera you just put the film in with the existing leader. You do NOT have to pull any extra out. This means that instead of only getting 24 photos on a role, I always get 26. There is also a backlight on the LCD which makes it very nice to read at night.
I could talk about all the features for a long time on this camera. It has an excellent focus range which is another reason I bought it. My old Vivitar could only focus up 4'. This new Kodak can focus on something only a foot and half away! So you can get very close to what you are taking a photo of. It also has different settings for night where it leaves the shutter open longer. There is this nice red light in the front which is helpful in two ways. First it works for red eye reduction, second, it is aimed so that it only shines on people that will be in the picture. Basically, when someone hits the button, if you can't see the red light very well, you know you will not be in the picture. The viewfinder is also very bright and easy to see through.
If in a hurry to develop your film, you can rewind the film midrole. Until then there is a nice lock that keeps you from accidentally opening it. The only problem I had with this camera at first was the bright flash. When I would be inside, it was terrible. Peoples faces would be so white you couldn't see their noses or eyes, and then the background would be completely black. However this was easy to solve. I taped on a piece of waxed paper over the flash and now my pictures are top notch and very clear.
