| 77chelle's Full Review: Konica Minolta Z-up 140 Super 35mm Film Camera |
We have had this Konica Z-up 140 super for a year now, and I can honestly say I am very disappointed in the quality of the pictures that we have taken with it. In every roll of film that we have developed there have been at least 3 or 4 pictures with red eye. I have even had a whole roll of film show up with red eye with this camera. My old camera that I had never had this many pictures with red eye.
Overall this camera is very easy to use. We have had a lot of success with pictures taken with this camera during the daytime hours. But take this camera inside or take pictures at night that is when we have problems.. We have read the manual and have followed the instructions but we still end up with pictures with red eye. We have had pictures with red eye even though we have used the red eye button on the camera. There is also an option to not use the red eye option and we still have had pictures with red eye. If we were to figure out what was causing this red eye I would say that I love this camera, but right now, I am very disappointed with it.
Some great things that this camera has to offer....
1. The Shutter locks outside focusing range (when you are too close to the object it won’t let you take the picture)
2. Automatic film loading. The film is very easy to load and after you put it in the camera it catches onto it and loads very nicely.
3. Automatically rewinds at the end of the roll. You can also rewind it at any frame of the film with the push of a button if you choose to do so.
4. Self-Timer. You can set this camera to take a picture with you in it. It just takes 10 seconds with a 3-second warning right before the picture is taken.
5. This camera has a night view option. If you are taking a picture at night you can set the camera in night view.
6. This Konica Z-up 140 has a few special modes that you don’t find in every camera...flash on, flash off, pre-flash for red eye reduction, and auto flash. I consider it to be a smart camera, it will test the light of the frame and decide if it needs the flash or not.
7. Pretty good size LCD panel displays which mode the camera is currently in along with the amount of pictures currently taken. The panel is very easy to read.
8. Real image zoom view finder. It shows what the camera lens sees.
9. Long distance mode for distant landscapes and when shooting through a glass window. Focus is set at a distance for maximum sharpness.
10. Date and time stamp. Ever wonder how long ago that picture was taken? Well, not with the pictures taken with this camera. There are a few different options for the date and time stamp.
11. Remote control. Yes, this camera comes with a remote control if you set the camera on a tri-pod or a safe place at the press of a button you can take a picture.
12. Panoramic pictures can be taken with this camera. There is a switch at the bottom of the camera. I have never used this setting so I don’t know how well it works.
This camera takes a lithium battery (CR123A). The LCD panel will display the current battery level. You can take about 10 rolls of film with flash for half of the exposures.
The camera to subject range is 38mm to 140mm.
This camera is light and easy to carry around. The size of the camera is 4.7X2.7X2.2”. Fits very easily into a purse or even around the neck. It is not too heavy about 290 grams is all.
Overall this is a good little camera. I should probably have it taken in and make sure that this camera just doesn’t have flaw in it. It has taken some pretty good pictures, even though the red eye reduction just hasn’t worked for me.
I have seen this camera on the Internet for as little as $159.00 which is not a bad deal for all the options this camera has.
