| chapol's Full Review: Olympus Stylus Epic 115 QD 35mm Film Camera |
This is one small but fantastic camera that can go anywhere with you. I am on my second Olympus "clamshell" type camera. My first was the original XA model, but that one had manual controls. When Olympus came out with the Stylus several years ago, I figured the improvements were worth the investment in another camera. I was right!
The Stylus I have does have zoom-lense of 35 to 70mm. I really can't say enough about this beautiful piece of equipment. I first bought the Olympus to take along on a ski trip to capture some beautiful scenery and friends on the mountain. The camera did not get confused by the bright snow, as has happened with other cameras. The pictures were as sharp and crisp as I could have expected. Best of all, you can carry this reliable camera almost wherever you go. It is so compact and tough you don't have to worry about it.
I would like to say I treat my camera equipment with the deepest care. But, that is definitely not the case. I keep this camera in a hot car closed up all day; I throw it in the trunk of the car; I use it in the snow, rain, even on a sandy beach. Nothing seems to faze it. It just keeps on going and ... It fits inside the pocket of most suit coats, regular light and heavy coats, even in my shirt pocket, although it is a bit heavy there.
It is easy to load, and unlike other cameras, I have never made a mistake in loading film and finding out too late it isn't traversing correctly. I can't even guess how many rolls of film I have run through this machine. Hundreds!
What can I possibly say negative? Where was this camera when I was growing up and missing photos of friends, family and vacations?
