prettyrain's Full Review: Polaroid JoyCam Film Camera
I didn't think this camera would be as much fun as it, but it really is as fun as a toy. It's not a toy, though... it really works! It took a few shots to figure out exactly how far away to get, and what kind of light works.
I've only had a few pictures inside turn out well -- and that was near a big window with lots of light. So far using the flash has helped, except that it creates some shadows unless behind your image. Outside though, the pictures are beautiful and crisp. Yes, they're small, but that makes it fun too. They can fit in a big wallet, a checkbook, a baseball card protector (I use those to carry pictures around), or a small frame. Or you can use a bunch of them to make a collage, use it with a mat in a bit bigger of a frame, put a bunch together in a scrap book or in a big frame with small cut-outs.
The camera was $26 and a pack of film (10 shots) was $7.99. Sounds expensive, but you don't have to pay for the cost of development and there's just something about instant gratification! Also, it's nice to take a picture somewhere and hand it over to someone to take and keep.
It was a bit frustrating at first to take shots that didn't come out that well and the camera itself is an awkward size and shape. However, it's sturdy enough that you don't have to worry about hurting it (although still be careful with it!) and the flash doesn't need batteries.
