| Quietdrummer's Full Review: Sony PopShots Film Camera |
I bought this camera for a real emergency ...otherwise, I would not have bought it for the ridiculous price of $19.99 without tax. It was pretty easy to use, being that there is a detailed explanation of how to use the camera both on the camera itself and the bag in which it was enclosed in. All you have to do is choose between the indoor and outdoor setting , press a button to take your picture, and pull the picture out with a dangling round lever on the side of the camera. The battery enclosed inside the camera must be a real powerful one because the flash dosen't take long to charge at all.
My first couple of pictures went bad, mainly because as soon as I took the pictures, I swiftly placed them on one side to show up...but as i discovered later, the swift movements I made destroyed the pictures by letting the enclosed ink or chemicals inside the polaroid photo paper spill unto the actual pictures I took. Apart from that, the good pictures weren't very clear at all. I had to strain my eyes to see the details of the pictures I took. I tried to scan the pictures i took and enlarge them on my computer, but it was no good either, so I went out for a disposable kodak camera. I guess I'll be more patient next time :)
The good features of this camera includes the fact that it lets you take at least 10 pictures, and the pictures don't take that long to show up either. One just has to be really careful not to touch the surface of the picture as soon as it is taken. The other thing is that they enclosed a us mail envelope inside the camera package so that you can mail the camera to them for recycling after you're done with it...i think that is a very good conservative idea on the part of polaroid.
I wouldn't recommend this camera to anyone though, because apart from the part that it is expensive, the pictures aren't clear enough. The lever used to pull the pictures out of the camera could easily break also, therefore it is important to pull the lever in and out very carefully. The camera also has some kind of weird, bulky shape too..i don't think it can fit in a regular pocket...unless you're wearing cargo pants or carrying some kind of bag with you. If you're going to get this camera just to try it out, you might want to check the cvs/pharmacy stores....they usually put things like this on their 75% off display after a while.
