For me it was like this: before I had Minolta Riva point-and shoot and I started to hate that pictures are not sharp enough. Then I heard about this little wonderful thing that has Zeiss for its eye and promises great sharpness. I bought it and I tried it.
Good things: It was light and reliable. I really liked the extra viewfinder on the top of the camera -- it is really good when you are not tall enough or short enough to take the picture or you just want to take a picture without person's noticing you are doing it.
Lens sharpness is very good (when the camera focuses properly). Now, when I am scanning my negatives and compare those made by Yashica and those made by my Pentax SLR (using Pentax 35-80 and 28-200 zoom lenses), I like the Yashica pictures very much.
Things that are not so good: (1) Vignetting. I do not know if the reason is the sutter or the lens, but the corners and the sides of the picture are darker than the center. (2) Occasional focusing problems. At short distances everything usually is fine, but far objects sometimes are out of focus and you can see that the real focus went to the distance of something like five or seven meters.
Another thing: as I was using this camera, I understood that I really need zoom. Not always you can get to the things as close as you would like to.
