| Russhoolio's Full Review: Pentax PZ-1P Film Camera |
I had the opportunity to use one of these babies over the last few days. Up till now I have been a EOS devotee. I shoot with an Elan (the original black elan) and I love it. But the PZ-1P is amazing. It is comfortable to hold. The motor drive does about 4 frames per second. And the auto-focus is super fast. It is as fast as the EOS 3 I tested.
The camera was also easy to figure out. Without even reading the manual I was able to master most of the functions within a few minutes. The PZ-1P has dial controls similar to the EOS Elan and A2. And while the camera settings are not as straight forward as on the Canons, overall I was more impressed with the Pentax.
The one drawback was the battery door. It is a bit hard to get open if you have recently trimmed your fingernails. And you have to lock it yourself. It does not have the nice auto-locking battery door of the EOS system.
My final word on the matter is: I am actually considering switching systems so I can use the PZ-1P.
