bwyckoff1's Full Review: Canon EOS Rebel G 35mm Film Camera
My review is about the Canon EOS Rebel camera. I had purchased this model several years ago, and they have since made improvements such as the built in flash.
This camera can make any amateur feel like a Ansel Adams or Diane Arbus. It is easy to use and takes such fine quality photos.
I used to own the Canon AE-1. This was until I took it to the ocean and sand got into the camera. Lesson One for dummies. Do not take your expensive equipment to the beach. The camera is not water resistant.
I am strictly a novice photographer, but when you see so much of the world around you as potential canvasses of memories, you really need a decent camera.
I have only used Canon for the last twenty years and the quality of the camera is really excellent. I have rarely or ever had any problem with them. The camera is both extremely durable and very stylish.
The camera battery is quite easy to load. There is an LCD panel on the camera which allows the user to see when the battery power is gone. It takes a lithium battery which is kind of pricey. To load the film is quite simple and is close to automatic as it comes. Once the film is properly positioned in the camera , the film winds itself and advances.
My son has used this camera extensively for an advanced photography course and loved it also. The camera takes wonderful, crisp, black and white photos.
I frequently use the automatic focus feature which automatically will set the shutter speed and aperture for you. Could not be any simpler. Of course, there is plenty for the photographer to fool with as the Canon allows multiple exposures, manual focus, portrait settings, actions settings, as well, as landscape settings. These different settings are well marked on the dial at the top of the camera. All you need to do for a close-up ,for example, is set the dial on portrait. Snap and go.
The camera also comes with a self timer feature. This allows you to set the camera on a tripod, focus on your subject matter and jump into the photo before the timer releases the shutter button. It has a ten second delay.
When you are done shooting your roll of film the camera automatically rewinds the film for you. All you need to do is open the back and take out the canister.
The flash must be purchased apart from from the camera. I chose the Canon Speedlite 200 and it has provided great service also. This particular flash takes four AA batteries. It mounts at the top of the camera. Simple.
Anyone who is looking for a camera to capture either babies first steps or that slide into home plate will find this camera wonderful to use. The photos I have gotten from the Canon line have been nothing short of impressive.
