| artiste's Full Review: Konica Minolta Maxxum HTsi Plus Film Camera |
I have been researching SLR cameras for a few months to decide what I need. I was looking for quality as well as a good price. I decided the Minolta HTsi Plus was for me. I am a beginner to the world of SLR cameras. I wanted my camera to do creative things and also to have some automatic settings. This camera has it all. There are several automatic settings: portrait, night, sport, and close-up. You can change the settings so you can do them manually. It has a Multiple Exposure feature which will do nine on one frame. This is fun for me and allows me to do some special effects. It takes a few tries to figure this out but it is explained in the manual. The camera has a honey comb metering system which is supposed to make this camera technologically sophisticated. The camera comes with a strap and two batteries.
Most places charge almost $400 for the kit. I searched online and it was about $359 with no shipping and taxes. However I am not at my desk at my office so I thought I may not get the package. I went to J and R Music World in Manhattan who sold it for $389. They knocked twenty dollars off the price which was better than nothing. Still I have a small discount and the camera is in my hand.
I purchased a 200mm zoom lens for this model for only $65. It was a used Vivitar one at B and H in Manhattan. It works great. My pictures have developed very well. The colors are so sharp and vivid. The multiple exposures that I took look wonderful. I want to purchase some colored filters to create different effects.
If you are looking for a great camera and want to be alittle more creative, Minolta Htsi is a good purchase. It is great for the beginner and maybe even for more advanced photographers.
