Pros: Solid construction, fast motors, great shape/size, it's a Nikon!
Cons: No date stamp feature standard, no cheap if your not a pro.
The Bottom Line: I would only consider the like priced Canon as a good alternative, as the rest are either not well supported or to new on the market to have been proven.

I got the F100 along with the SB28 as a fathers day present, it is far more camera than IŐll ever need as I was using a Canon Sureshot before I got it. I have learned a great deal about itŐs features and can say that as a true amateur, I find this a very friendly camera to operate. I love the color metering system which has never yet failed me. The SB28 flash works with this body very harmoniously and when used in ŇprogramÓ mode along with this flash, this camera is almost identical to a point and shoot in itŐs ease of use.
Should you want the total SLR you can go into ŇMÓ anual mode and if you want 1/2 way in between, you can control either the aperture or shutter speed, and the computers will handle the other.
The focus speed, even in low light, is great. I am using an all around lens (the Nikon 35-120mm Zoom) which is not the fastest lens on the market, but is probably the best overall lens for day to day shooting.
Again, rating this as amateur, I have to give it 100%..... If I were a pro, I may have different things to say.
