Pros: Good sound, decent power to drive 2 subs, looks good.
Cons: Broke after only a year and a half of use
The Bottom Line: If you have the extra cash, go with another brand.

| sdlundbe's Full Review: Sony XM-1002HX Car Amp |
I Bought a new car and decided to get a new system. I piece mealed it together using a relatives discount at a store they worked at. I was happy with the Sony amp. I used it to power 2 10" Kenwood subs. Once I figured out where I wanted the settings, it was set it and forget it. It ran cool, never overheated, even on really hot days. Never clipped or distorted. Plenty of power to make the bass come out in the music. After having it for only a year and a half though, it just quit on me without warning. It kept on blowing fuses one day, and there was no external wiring problem to cause it to short circuit. I have never abused this amp, never turned up the music too loud, or even the bass. I often run my head unit with the bass setting in the middle position, no amplification of the bass. I even turn it down to a setting of -3 (out of 6) to keep the bass so it fills in the music and not overpowers it.
I am extremely disappointed with the durability of this product. I expected it to last at least 5 years or so. To put this in perspective, I have had 2 different Sony head units in the past, and both of those broke on me within a year of purchase.
