| butah's Full Review: Alpine CHM-S620 6-Disc CD Changer |
The Alpine CD changer is an excellent selection when installation space is at a premium. Further, Alpine quality car audio components is unsurpassed. Feel confident when you buy Alpine, but don't forget to correctly install it.
When I got my Honda Accord, it came with a CD player. However, there is a danger when changing CDs and driving at the same time. So I got an Alpine CD changer. The sound quality is good (or as good as your speakers are). The changer doesn't skip. However, if you drive in roads littered with potholes (Baltimore City) then there is no solution.
Alpine changers require a specific adapter when used with factory receivers. For Accord models prior to 1998, there is a circular adapter which is about $20. This is the good news. For the newer Accord models, a square adapter is required. The negative here is in the $80 dollars you have to pay. Plus, a special order is required because some car audio sellers do not even know about it. So, be sure to buy the correct adapter.
I have had no problems except when the magazine got caught in the changer.
This probably was not a production defect. Rather it was from not correctly mounting the changer in the center console. Once I adjusted the changer, there were no more problems.
