| Artizan's Full Review: Pioneer CDX-FM653 6-Disc CD Changer |
Until 3 days ago, I didn't own a compact disc. Now I wouldn't do with out them.
My wife and son purchased this Pioneer C.D. player and a stack of C.D.'s as my Christmas present. I confess, I didn't think I'd know how to operate this C.D. player, much less appreciate all of the neat things they had to say about it.
One of the best things about being a "he-man" is the ability to admit you're wrong and not look like a sissy. So, I was wrong. This compact disc stuff is awesome.
My Pioneer holds 6 compact discs. It has a remote that allows switching to different tracks on the same C.D. or changing between C.D.'s. It isn't wired directly to the stereo system. Instead it sends a signal to an unused radio frequency and is played through the FM stereo. This feature is exceptionally cool as it allows me to play my old cassettes, listen to the radio, and adds the feature of playing compact discs.
My Pioneer is mounted behind the seat of my pick-up. Which has it's benefits and drawbacks. The benefit is that it can't be seen from anywhere outside of the truck, so I feel that it's less likely to be stolen. The disadvantage is that to change discs, I have to stop the truck and get behind the seat to do so. It's a good thing it holds six discs. I don't change them very often, instead flipping through my favorite six as I roll down the highway.
I thought that my new disc player would have a problem down the rough roads I travel. It didn't. No skips, no jumps, no errors.
I love my new disc player and highly recommend it to anyone who's into audio or gadgets. I happen to like some musical styles that are not shared by other family members. There's no fun like the fun you have when you've got an unwilling audience sharing the joys of Marty Robbins at full volume and high speed.
