Call me Ignorant.....
Around Halloween (actually on Halloween Day), I purchased a new SUV. Car makers have come a long way to put better stock speakers and head units in their cars but they still have a little while to go. So I wanted to replace my entire system with Competition Quality equipment. So, I picked Alpine for the brain (head unit), AutoTek for the muscle (amp) and then came speaker selection. Do you know how hard and boring this was to research. As ignorant as I was back then, I only wanted big names. So, I researched MB Quart, Rockford, Cerwin Vega, Polk Momo and last Infinity Kappa Perfect. After looking at power handling and such, I picked out the Cerwin Vega top of the line Intense Technology. I paid an arm and a leg for them and they were not even the components. Well, to get to the point, I hated them. They could not handle much power and the treble was so high that it made me want to choke myself. So, I sold them on Ebay and decided to go for Infinity components...another disappointing story. Then came MBs, Rockford and you get the point.
Finally I was faced with either one of the above, use them and force myself to like them because they were big show names, or spend 4x as much for Diamonds. But then, I was looking on Crutchfield and saw the Blaus. I knew the low end Blaus were not that great, but the Overdrives caught my attention. They were on sale and the power handling was great. But, were Blau speakers good? I mean why would I spend money on Blau if they did not sound good and did not make me look "cool", considering they were going to be in my car forever since I had to cut holes in my doors to fit the tweeters and I am sure other brands would not fit down the road in the same holes.
Ok, I have had them for 2 months. I am so amazed by their sound quality I can't even express it. I honestly have learned a great lesson about being ignorant and that name does not matter.
Sound:
I have 80 watts each pushing these speakers and I can turn my volume all the way up and they don't even break out. Treble and Bass are a perfect blend. You can adjust the tweeter's gain to be louder or lower on the component box. The quality of the material is excellent and the silver shiny woofer can be seen behind my factory grill. The woofers can really pound and they act as a great fill-in for my Sub. The tweeters are very crisp yet they don't produce that annoying high pitch treble. You can really hear everything in a song to the point where you prefer your car stereo over your home's.
I must say, Blau have really done a great job with the Overdrives. My friends show off with their MB's and Rockfords but trust me, my Overdrives really blow them away in terms of loudness and sound quality. I don't even have to turn on my Crossover on my amp to lower the gain. They can take anything.
If you are looking to make your car sound beautiful, without having speakers breaking out or ultra high treble, then I would really suggest these Blaus.
