| wiseguyinc's Full Review: Pioneer TS-A6969 Coaxial Car Speaker |
Ahh yes Pioneer. The greatest friend to normal people looking to upgrade their car audio. They have proven time and again to be a great value for the average music listener.
I was interested in finding some aftermarket speakers after buying my new Clarion deck and the first place I went was crutchfield. I searched for direct fit speakers for my Galant and had many choices from which to pick. I then narrowed the choices down by price and these and other pioneers were in my search. I trust pioneer for their consistant quality and long life and so given the choice between them and others I opted for the pioneers. The asking price of these 4 way speakers was right around 130 bucks so I considered buying the 3 way models and saving some cash. That seemed like the smart thing for this working boy to do.Right? Right.
The next step in my search was to find a place to listen to these babies. I hate buying speakers I have not heard so I went to Best Buy.The first thing I was interested in was price. I looked only to find the pricing to be very close.Bummer I thought. I hit the button on the 3 ways....not too impressed. For 70 bucks I wanted more. I hit the button on the 4 ways.....not bad, much sharper with a harder bass response. Still, the price was too much. I left dejected.
Now I turned my attention to the internet. I was determined to find a betterdeal on these speakers. I searched yahoo shopping and boy was I a happy camper. The pricing was great. I found the 4 way speakers for 65 bucks plus 15 shipping. Bam! I hit the checkout button and cursed best buy and crutchfield for their attempts to rip me off.
The worst part about buying speakers or anything for that matter thru the mail is the wait. I waited for a while and follow with eagerness my tracking status from UPS. The speakers showed up in 7 days and i was set to install.
The install was a snap thanks to pioneers universal fit. I had them ready to go in 10 minutes. Now came the moment of truth.Would these speakers sound as good in my car as in the store. I hate and love this part of new stereo equipment. I turned on my deck with my favorite cd all ready to go.....(crank)....total relief. They sounded good. In fact they sounded better. The sharp treble was the first good thing I noticed. I love a crisp sound and these were really crisp. The next was when the song reached it's heavy bass......very nice. The noise the things could produce was well worth the 80 bucks I spent.
In all these speakers were a fantastic purchas and Pioneer again came thru for me. I would not go as far to say these are good for competition,no sir. But, if you want to upgrade you factory or blown out junk these will leave you with a big smile on your face. I can crank them loud and the sharp sound could almost make my ears bleed if I wanted it too (almost). The bass? For those who hate subs they will be perfect. For those who love subs, they will scream out the highs and compliment your boom. Good speakers for 130 bucks.Fantastic speakers for $80.Shop around.
