| Hogermite's Full Review: Polk Audio dX9 Car Speaker |
These speakers first stand out for their price. $230 for the MRSP (which I read in another review) is kinda meaningless because I got these for $150 through a friend at Good Guys. However, even for $230, these are amazing speakers. Polk is notorious for having good speakers at good prices, and these follow in those footsteps. I just have a Panasonic DF-800 headunit (45X4 watts0 powering them with no amp, and they sound great. They easily get the windows and rear-view mirror shakin, and those sitting in the back usually come out of my car with their ears ringing. They can handle the highs as well, such as Ride of the Valkyries, which has almost no bass at all. They do get pretty distorted if I push the bass all the way up, but these speakers aren't designed to handle that, and if you want earth-rattlin bass you should be looking at a subwoofer. They sound terriffic with everything from Dr. Dre. to Vivaldi, and I'm really glad that I did my research and found these speakers for the best blend of price and quality.
On installation. I installed these by myself in about two hours, as there is a bar that I had to negotiate around in my Honda Civic. I can't talk about other cars, but I would rather have paid someone to do the connections so I could know they were being done right instead of fumbling my way to the right connections after three hours.
Buy these!
