Amishman's Full Review: Alpine CDM-7834 Car CD Player
I own an Alpine CD player model CD-7834. It is install in my 1993 F-150 pickup. The Ford stock speakers are pretty good, but the original headunit was only a AM/FM with a tape deck. As soon as I installed the alpine head unit it sounded great. It was plenty loud enough to get the attention of those I passed by. Plus it was very expensive just a little over $200.
However, as in the nature of humans we are never satisfied. I had two Pioneer Premier 6 by 9 lying around my house. I figured with the combination of the four stock speakers and the two 6 by 9's that it would be pretty loud. So I picked up a little Alpine amp with a max power of 60watts times 2 channels. The number is MRP-T306 and it cost about $100. Some people laughed at my idea thinking that I was wasting my time. But I dont have a lot of cash to spare and it sounds pretty good.
On the quality of the products. I've never experienced any problems with it skipping under any conditions, even while off-roading. The only thing that happens that may deter you would be that you have to reset everything after you blow a fuse or disconnect your battery for something. But I dont know a CD Player that doesnt do that. Especially for how little it cost.
I personally like Pioneer, but Alpine is good quality material for a fraction of the price.
