Don't get me wrong I think that JVC makes a great car stereo, but as far as the disappearing face I don't like. Someone could very easily steal the stereo, hook it up in their car and guess what, they have a complete working stereo.
With the detachable face you don't have to worry about that because you have the face why would they steal it, and you can tell the difference between a hideaway face and a detachable face. Anybody that knows their car stereos will be able to tell the difference because when you detach a face you can see the electronic plug where the face plate goes, with a hideaway face you can't see that plug because it just folds up.
I bought a JVC detachable face cd player that was 45 watts per channel, has a remote control and all the same features as the hideaway face for about a $100 less than that, and I don't worry about anybody stealing it because the face is always with me and the face costs almost as much as the stereo so why would they take it.
