After recently buying a used car and not having a choice of the stereo it came with, I decide to replace it with a new CD player. The first problem was I Was working with only about $275. Not a lot when it comes to any electronics really. So I was on a pretty tight budget. I looked into all the name brand CD headunits and found that for the amount you get, Pioneer was the most reasonably priced with CD headunits starting around $125. After tossing it back and forth for a while, I decided to spend all of my money paying around $165 for the DEH-1000 CD player and around $75 for kits and installation. What I liked about the unit most is the equalizer settings it has. These settings allow you to scroll through balance settings rather than playing with the traditional bass and treble knobs. The sound quality of my whole stereo improved noticably because of the new headunit, and has made my driving a whole lot more enjoyable. The one thing I did not like about it after I bought it, is that upon ejection of a CD, the headunit turns off making it sometimes difficult to put a new one in. Overall, I am extremely happy with my new stereo, and definatly recommend Pioneer as a maker to consider seriously. Their are better headunits out there, but for the person looking for a good headunit with a small price tag the deh-1000 is your best buy.
