As a person who is very experienced when it comes to car stereos the DEH-P4000 should not be priced at $300. This isn't a bad CD Player, but I hold on to $300 very tightly and from what I have seen and heard this is not worth what Pioneer wants for this specific unit.
In this specific unit you are paying for looks and a lot of useless options which most people will have to call technical support to take advantage of. They tell you about the Easy EQ but it is nothing but easy, all it comes with are presets and then you have to navigate through these menus and set values which are algebraic curves the head unit tells the speakers to sound when a certain frequency is input by the CD. Me myself, I cannot see the point in this, you can hear almost no difference.
All and all, if you are going to buy a unit somewhere in the $300 range go with a Sony or a Kenwood for quality. How good can a Pioneer be if you can buy them at Walmart?
