| amalunao's Full Review: Pioneer DEH-P4000 CD Changer |
I am in full agreement with orbitcom's comments about the Pioneer DEH-4000. I've had mine for about 5 months and it's been a solid investment. For the money spent, Pioneer gives you some great features including MOSFET 45x4 power (approx. 22watts continuous) for a great clean sound. The remote is also a definite plus, as is the easy to read and visually attractive display. The menus for customizing your sound quality and cd titles takes a little getting used to, but becomes very natural within a short amount of time.
The AM/FM tuner is also great, as it allows 18 programmable FM stations and 6 AM stations. Another nice feature included in the tuner is a feature that allows you to seek out radio stations and program them into your station according to their signal strength...perfect for long range driving where you may want to seek out the airwaves native to the area you happen to be in.
I do agree that the wattage can be too much for stock speakers. I've upgraded the 6.5's in the front of my Civic and they give great bass response as well as even cleaner mids. However, my next investment will be upgrading the 6x9's in the back, as they tend to distort on higher volume levels (which is apparent even more when the loudness is set on either MEDIUM or HIGH) But overall, there's plenty to gain from this purchase in terms of sound, intuitive design, and upgradability.
