| kil45's Full Review: Pioneer DEH-6000 CD Changer |
This deck is a great value buy. I was able to get it off of ubid.com for only about $180 shipped. This was my second deck, the first one I had was a pioneer dehp-4000, a decent deck as well. The 4000 is only a entry level deck, and I decieded I wanted to step up one level. Before I go any further I would like to state that this is acutally a review for a Pioneer DEHP - 6200, the newer model of teh 6000. From what I know it seems that both decks are pretty much the same with some minor cosmetic changes( knob for volume instead of push button, more rubberized buttons ).
You get a lot for your money on this deck. Here are the ones I have found the most useful:
-You get 3 RCA preouts instead of the standard 2, which allows you to better control your sub, if you choose to attach one
-There is also a parametric 3 band equalizer, a very useful feature. There are 5 presets and 1 custom one.
-A 45 x 4 MOSFET amp, a very nice feature especially if you don't have amps. Pioneer decks have one of the best built in deck amps.
-48 disc title memory. The deck will display the name you assign to the cd, though space is limited to about 10 characters.
-There are also built in crossovers, which is always nice to have.
-A DFS security system, a nice feature especially if you do not have a alarm already.
The deck comes with a nice credit card remote from which you can do just about everything. I also like the volume knob much better than a push button one. You can also achieve very nice precision in volume. You can go up to 62 on the volume meter. The face does flips down, which allows for more display room. The face is also detachable.
If you are considering upgrading from your stock deck or a low end deck, the Pioneer 6200/6000 is a great choice. It has almost all the functions one can wish for, but as soon as you come up with functions that you wish this one had, then I guess its time to upgrade again.
