| treyghs's Full Review: Sony CDX-2250 CD Changer |
In this mobile CD player, Sony presents minimal options, but the essential ones are there. Who has time to figure out which button does what and where it is while driving anyway?
I have used this player in two different vehicles. I installed it myself in both which indicates that the installation does not involve nuclear physics. The first was a Chevy S10 Blazer, in which the player never skipped because of the added support of the SUV. I must comment that the durability of this product is superior. I had had an accident that totaled the Blazer, but I took out the CD player and later transplanted it into my much smaller Acura Integra. It still plays perfectly although the car doesn't take bumps as well as the Blazer, resulting in the rare but occasional skip.
Unfortunately for the paranoid or those who aren't paranoid, but would like to hang on to their stereos, this model does not have a removable or flip-up face to deter those who would steal your favorite means of producing beautiful melodies.
The stereo itself has superb sound quality. After all, the type of speakers you have bears far more heavily on this aspect than the CD player. The bass boost has three levels, but most of the time the highest one is over doing it. That is a matter of personal preference.
Some may be disappointed to hear that there are only six radio presets, but I have no problem with it. Most of the time I listen to the CD player anyway, and when I don't I only listen to one station. Those extravagant people requiring more than six stations deserve to pay the extra money to get them.
This CD player may lack some features that more expensive models offer, but personally I find many of them impractical for use in an automobile. This model offers enough to get by at a reasonable price and it will last as long as the technology does. In addition I have found that Sony products in general are superior to other electronic brands with bigger price tags.
