Pros: Great bass quality - perfect upgrade to factory systems - GREAT PRICE - Definately made for the music lover on a budget who enjoys quality sound.
Cons: The only con I can see is if you own a large car such as a Cadillac because the bazooka is made for smaller to midsize cars.

| CEOlson's Full Review: Bazooka EL8A-HP Car Subwoofer |
Having a small Chrysler LeBaron and in need of my trunk space I was in a quandry of what I could purchase to make the sound in my car the way I wanted it. I already had a 12 disc JVC X200RF (see my review on this on item at http://www.epinions.com/elec-review-53E0-6979ED1-3A2BF489-prod1) to play my CDs and a pair of Alpine speakers and a pair of infinity speakers to upgrade the factory infinity speakers.
Needless to say, being a musician, I love to have my music equally balanced and am not satisfied until I can hear all the voices perfectly (especially while listening to bands recently released CD). I looked and looked for a bass tube that would not take up too much space but provide me with the low end hitting that I craved.
I have to say that I didn't think that the Bazooka EL8A would do the job because of its small size but I have to tell you that I was VERY wrong! The Bazooka EL8A hits perfectly and cleanly with no distortion (unless you max the bass control on the unit itself and your cars deck).
The Bazooka EL8A is based on the principle of BASS REFLEX. Bass is heard more cleanly when reflected off another surface. With this in mind you install the Bazooka tube facing the back of your trunk and the bass reflects off your trunk and back to you for a nice smooth sound.
The installation was a breeze. The unit has a build in amplifier so none need be installed which saves a lot of money, time, and hassle. All you do is mount the unit in your trunk about a half an inch from the back of the trunk. Then you attach all the prewired leads (I needed to use additional speaker cable which I purchased at my local hardware store for $3) to your rear car speakers because your rear speakers carry the most bass waves. Then for power you connect it directly to your battery. It is as simple as that. It will automatically pick up the bass signals and turn on when your music turns on because it is hooked to your rear speakers, however, you can install the optional on/off switch. I chose to leave it on the auto turn on/off mode. It took me about 4 hours to install and keep in mind I have no idea how to install car audio.
After the quick install you'll be cruising in style with enough power to compete with people that have boxes in their trunks and you will have money to spend on things such as gas and a date left over unlike the people who buy boxes and amps.
The Bazooka EL8A is the perfect bass addition for small to mid range vehicles. If you have a large vehicle I don't believe it will do you much good to buy a bazooka. Although, currently my bazooka is penetrating a 5 inch thick seat after reflecting off my trunk and it is still very powerful. My friends always ask how my system is so balanced and what I am using for bass and when I show them they don't believe me that it is from the little tube in the corner of my trunk and they look for hidden subs but to no avail! I receive many accolades on my car's perfect balance and I owe it mainly to the rich, smooth bass of the bazooka. I recommend the EL8A to anyone who appreciates great sound and especially to kids and adults on a low budget because the price can't be beat!
