| houstontexas's Full Review: Sony STR-DE135 2 Channels Receiver |
I've had this receiver for about a year. I think Sony quality has dropped a little in the past few years, but haven't had any quality problems with this unit. However, I bought a Sony 300-disc changer to integrate with the two-way remote, only to discover that the remote only supports 200 disc names due to a memory limitation. The dealer and documentation state that the remote and receiver are 300-disc compatible, but customer service has informed me that the books are in error.
Other than that, the two-way remote is very cool. I have configured my X10 lighting to use programmable buttons on the Sony remote so I can turn lights on/off/dim from labeled buttons. (www.smarthome.com)
This receiver has more power than you can ever use. With DD5.1 DVDs, the sound is incredible. Just make sure your surround speakers are up to the task. If not, you can select small for the rears and the bass will be redirected to the larger front speakers, or a subwoofer.
With the amazing DSP in this unit, everything is programmable. You enter the distance from your listening location to the speakers to optimize the delay. You also can enter different EQ for each speaker, and control for the acoustics of the walls.
