| g2kdk's Full Review: Sony STR-DE135 2 Channels Receiver |
Unlike many Sony products, this is one which everyone can understand just by the words printed on the front of the receiver itself. No need for a manual really.
This receiver is surprisingly popular these days (considering it's lack of up-to-date features). I used to sell it mainly to people who wanted a straightforward stereo system without going for those 'disposable' shelf systems so popular these days.
We at Best Buy receive regular weekly shipments of the STR-DE135, and regularly sell out of them. I would consider buying it for its ease of use, have I any need for a two-channel stereo receiver.
Basically, this unit will support 4 external sources and an internal AM/FM tuner. I once sold one to a radio station manager who had various radios throughout the building and wanted this unit to play 89.1 FM 24/7/365. That's great. That's what it's for. It's not a unit which is meant to handle home-theater.
The power output (I believe) is 80 watts (don't hold me to that, it may be 100)...but as always, Sony's tend to fluctuate on that a bit anyway, so both could be correct.
It's remote is very straightforward and will also control other Sony devices.
Overall I rate this unit (on ease-of-use, features, and functionality at a 65%.
It serves it's purpose. Barely.
