I heard this receiver and IMHO, it outperforms many "Hi-End Separates" This amps does better with simple and high efficiency loads. Electrostatics are out of the question. Of course my large rear projection TV kills any remnants of a sound stage. My friend throws a blanket over his when listening to music only. It help a little. That's why any serious audiophile IMO that wants to take the A/V plunge, should settle for a ceiling mount projector, with a pull down or motorized screen. When listening to serious music, you can remove any obstacles between your main speakers. I still haven't figured out what to do with the center speaker.
A puzzling thing is where did Teksmith buy A Denon AVR-5700 for $1800? If I could get that price, I would immediately jump on it. It typically costs 2300 in the Tampa Bay Area. Perhaps Teksmith can e-mail me the info?
Cordially,
