| chris1epinions's Full Review: Samsung AVR 7000 6.1 Channels Receiver |
I bought the AVR 7000 unit new about 6-7 years ago. When I received it, the center channel had a buzz in it which Harman Kardon said they repaired and did not fix it. I then received a new unit when I showed them the problem (2 months later). I then had no problems for the next 5 years. A year ago, the rear channels stopped working. I sent the amp to be fixed, it came back 4 months later, the problem half fixed, there was only a little sound coming out of the rear channels. The unit was returned, it was fixed three months later (thank god I had another receiver!). I got it one month ago, now the center channel is not working and the it a feedback everytime I press "pause" during a movie or change channels on my tv. As you can see the reliability issues are glaring. This is my 3rd Harman and last Harman.
It is a pity because the product is easy to use, the sound that it generates is really good. It's remote control is easy to use, it even has a handy built in light.
But I just think after having listenned to a friends 1000$ Marantz receiver that it is not worth paying 2500$ for a receiver. Also, a note, the store that I bought my AVR 7000 from no longer sells Harman products and the sales rep cited reliability issues and poor after sales service. I do not recommend the product or the brand.
