| darthtyranus's Full Review: Kenwood VR-307 Receiver |
This receiver is a great inexpensive solution to home theater, but(and a big but it is) this remote is extremely hard to figure out. I have my dvd player's digital optical cable hooked into video 3, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to use the remote to change to video 3. I have tried other universal remotes that can't do it either. I have to resort to changing the imput selector on the front panel of the receiver. This is very frustrating. I don't even use the remote anymore, I just use the front panel!
On a good note though the receiver is easy to set up. Like I said I have my optical cable in video three and my surround speakers hooked up in their specific places. The banana plugs make it very straight-foward. Then you can go through the speaker test to make sure that everything is set up right. You will have to answer a few questions(yes or no) for whether or not you have a sub-woofer or surround speakers. After that you set the distance in feet that each speaker is from the main spot that you will be listening from in the room. The distance is selectable from the default 10 feet to 1 foot.
After all that is done plug in a movie and enjoy! The sound is fairly clear for a cheap home theater setup. Good all around sound!
