| malachi010's Full Review: Marantz SR-18EX 5.1 Channels Receiver |
After spending almost 3 years with Marantz's SR-96/DP-870 combo all i can say is that this Receiver does sound
better.Well not on all its modes, meaning i still liked the old DSP modes(Hall/Movie/Matrix) on the SR-96 than this
one.You can change the settings at least on the old one,and does not have that "Flangey" echoey sound! But listening
to THX/DD/DTS is totally something different, the SR-18 gives alot more detail and sounds better than the DP-870.I was using using Klipsch's Epic 1 system before and it sounded GOOD on hometheater but now that i traded it in for B&W's CDM SE's all around the SR-18 sounded EXCELLENT.2-channel music sounds better too on this receiver
although you have to set the MAIN speakers to "small" to get the sub to kick in,if you have small speakers i guess it's
fine. Now the MANUAL! They could use some help with that one,but it does tell you how to master the newer version of
the RC-2000,to me thats all that matters since Marantz's on screen menus are mostly self explanatory, using that remote needs good instuctions. Now all i do is press a button and it does it all.Awesome Receiver!
