| greg_a's Full Review: Onkyo TX-DS676 5.1 Channels Receiver |
I just bought the TX-DS676 for Christmas, as my entry level receiver into home theatre and have not been disappointed by the sound and/or performance. The system may not be the top of the line, but it comes with enough features, wattage, and inputs/outputs to provide a receiver that should be able to stick around for a while. It has a great sound, absolutely fabulous with DVD's (the Matrix, Saving Private Ryan).
However, after two weeks of enjoyment, the power supply/electronics went belly up making it impossible to turn on the receiver. So I have already had to return the product for a new one. Although Onkyo says that it is built tough, it goes to show that electronics are not fool proof. Hopefully this was a one time thing.
Also, be careful where you purchase your equipment as Onkyo's Warranty will only cover you if you purchased from one of their "approved" retailers (meaning you paid full price). Check your seller to see what type of warranty they will provide you when it breaks.
