| dinomite1's Full Review: Sony STR-DE335 Receiver |
This is a great receiver overall. I have been using it for 3 years now, initially with some OK Advent speakers and more recently with Infinity Entra One's. This receiver still has the power and fidelity to keep up with the much better Infinity speakers.
It has all of the inputs that you would expect on such a receiver: stereo CD, stereo Video, stereo TV, (those three are basically the same; they are all just a stereo input) Tape/MD Input and output, and 5.1 channel/DVD. It has outputs for Front speakers (two sets, A and B) and a single set of rear speakers. A and B speakers sets are great if you have another set of speakers in another room that you don't always want on.
The receiver has a number of different "sound field" decoding schemes that help you tailor the sound to your room, speakers setup, and what you are listening to. The mute button fully mutes output. Bass boost provides a significant increase to sub ~250Hz. There are knobs on the front for Treble, Bass, Balance, and volume; the volume control is motorized and can be controlled from the remote. The tuner function is quite easy to use, and supports a coaxial input FM antenna. The receiver takes about 4 seconds to warm up before you get sound out of it.
