I bought this on a clearance sale at a Service Merchandise for 399 but it came with the Sony speakers system (subwoofer, four small speakers and a center channel speaker). It works very well so far, outperforming my ten year old Pioneer system (and the speakers take up way less space and sound much, much better). The only problem I've had so far is there is no remote code listed for my Phillips-Magnavox DVD player, which I'm still looking around the net to see if I can find. The remote is pretty space-age looking and functional as well. It doesn't light up as far as I can tell, though and the function buttons have hard-to-read green letters on them. Other than that, though, I'd recommend the system, especially if you can get a good speaker package with it like I did.
