I set up my original component system a while back, so my particular model is (once again) the progenitor of this one, the STR-560Z (at least, I think this is the correct descendent). Wow, did I make a good choice or what.
For what I paid, not much at the time, it's arguably been some of the best money I've ever spent, right along with the Sony CD changer I got for my car. Sony's audio products have been nothing but the best in my ownership experience and I might never buy anything else simply because I can trust them completely. This receiver has worked flawlessly for 3 years now, has a moderately intuitive setup, and everything sounds great. Bonus, since my TV is a Sony, they work together well.
Some of the options regarding surround sound are a little difficult to work with, but it's nothing a very thorough scouring of the instructions won't fix. (What, me? Read the manual?) The unit is a little heavy and does run warm, so it needs to be on an open shelf.
