I originally purchased this system because of store recommendations. Taking the receiver out of the box you find that there are plenty of audio ports on the back of the receiver and it includes all of the hookup ports you need to be up to date with technology, including dolby digital support which sounds great. For the speaker hookup I set up JBL's 6 piece home theater pack and the sound is beautiful. The Matrix in dolby digital surrounds you. Along with great DVD support the receiver handles CD audio as well as TV audio beautifully. Some of the sound effect modes include TV Sports, Concert Hall, Rock Concert, and on. TV Sports mode sounds great watching a basketball or football game. The one problem I have noticed is the remote takes a little time to get used to and could have been set-up a little more efficiently. Overall I would recommend this receiver to anyone looking to boost the performance of their home theater.
