| C4iGrant's Full Review: Yamaha HTR-5150 |
I can't believe that I am the first one to write a review on this great receiver! First of all Yamaha builds great quality receivers in every price range. Secondly very few receivers give you the power and connection capabilities the 5150 does for the price. I have mine hooked up to a Toshiba SD-3109 dvd player, Toshiba 32' TV, JBL studio series 310, JBL s-center and a Acoustic Research subwoofer. This receiver is on the bright side so make sure that you get warm sounding speakers or a subwoofer to round out the picture. The power output is listed at 70w, but don't let that fool you, this thing can crank out the power! I have yet to take mine above the half way point for fear of scaring the neighbors. I use this unit as both a home theatre unit and a receiver. In the home theatre aspect it gives you both DTS and DDS so you don't ever have to worry about missing the boat if the DVD industry goes one way or the other. On the receiver side it has several sound schemes to make your listening environment enjoyable. The best deals on this unit can be found on the internet, but if you don't like buying stuff online you can get a price quote from one of them and take it to SEARS! Yes I said SEARS, they will match prices and that way if you don't like it you can return it easily. I have had this receiver for several months and love it. Don't be afraid to give Yamaha a chance, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Enjoy...
