Pros: Great sounding, well thought out remote and features.
Cons: Display is hideous and hard to read, no S-Video inputs, and lack of more sound fields. No DTS either.

I had been looking for a Dolby Digital receiver for a long time. So many features and specifications! I pretty much had no idea what I was looking for. I did something about this. One day, I walked into Best Buy. I approached an audio/video guy and asked him to tell me all he knows about receivers. He sure spilled the beans. Not only did he give me a suggestion of his favorite in stock, but I also bought that one the same day.
When I got it home, the instructions were very helpful in setting up a Dolby Digital theatre. However, for a complete instruction guide to all audio/video, call Crutchfield and ask for their packet on installation and setup.
So, the setting up was easy and the features were very easy to access. The remote control also controls many other appliances like DVD, CD, ect. The remote is nice and thin and the silver finish is very cool. I like the brainless switching between audio sound fields and audio inputs.
I love the ease of use and the killer sound. The sound fields are incredible and it sounds like your actually at a rock concert when the setting is just that. However, I also hat many things too. The display is orange which is not only hideous, but very hard to read in the daytime. I also wish there were S-Video inputs on this receiver. That would help a ton, considering I have both a DVD player and VCR. Believe me, S-Video makes all the difference in the world. The bass and treble knobs on the front do pretty much nothing and only affect the front and rear speakers. The sound fields are good, but I had wished there were more.
Good god, all this complaining. The truth is that you wont find a good receiver with all the features I said were missing for under 400 dollars. So, in conclusion, this is a great receiver for the money and is a joy to watch movies and DVD's on.
