I have had the Yamaha RX-V2092 for over a year now and have not been disappointed.
With features like its multi-room ability, multiple sound field effects and seven channel sound (5.1 plus two front effects speakers which sit high on the wall above the main left and right speakers), this receiver can't be beat.
The receiver does very well at high sound levels and handles all of my DVD movies without complaining.
I also am running audio and video out to a receiver in a second room so that I can enjoy multi-source sound throughout my home. Yamaha even includes a second remote for the other room provided you have a way of getting the signal back to the receiver (it's not an RF remote).
One the downside, the receiver only has one optical and one coaxial digital input so my mini-disc, CD, DVD, and DSS components (all have digital outs) cannot all be plugged into the receiver.
Also, whoever designed the main remote should be shot. This big silver monster is impossible to learn and use on a regular basis. At least the secondary keys are covered the majority of the time and it is backlit for dark use.
There may be better receivers for less money, but I have been very pleased with my purchase.
