| mrpoetryman's Full Review: Yamaha RX-V495 5.1 Channels Receiver |
First of all, I have the upgraded model of this receiver, the Yamaha RX-V496. The only difference between this one and the one that I have is that mine has an output of 70 watts per channel as opposed to 60 watts per channel on the RX-V495.
After my 25 year old Technics Receiver died on me this past summer, I went searching for a replacement. I planned to upgrade my system with a DVD Player and a new Stereo VCR while keeping my Turntable and my CD Player. I knew that I would need a Receiver that would have the inputs for these components along with room for expansion.
I then researched the many different Receivers available on this site and others, and decided on the Yamaha. I especially like the remote control. It is very easy to use and being a universal one, I can use it for my other equipment. The sound is really out of this world. I have it hooked up to 4 speakers and you only need to put the volume up about 1/4 of the way to hear the richness of backround vocals and the sweetness of song lyrics.
You can program up to 40 different AM and FM radio stations with the ease of the remote control. Switching between components is also a snap. All the component attachments in the back of the unit are color coded, so that connecting them are easy.
I bought mine for $399.00 at Nobody Beats The Wiz. I am finding it to be a great investment in quality and sound dynamics.
