| jackle's Full Review: Yamaha RX-V595 5.1 Channels Receiver |
Over the last two months I've been shopping for an affordable, yet good receiver. I have tried the Yahama HTR-5240 (AKA RK-V494), and the Yahama HTR-5250 (AKA RK-V595, the only difference is the remote color and the gold feet). This receiver is excellent with a Total Harmonic Distortion(THD) of .06% making for pure listing enjoyment. I have compared this product with a Sony receiver and a Technics in the same price range and the sound quality is so much purer. The other two brands had an anoying hiss that could be heard over any DVD or CD played (THD of 0.9% and 0.7% respectivly). The only short falling that this had over the other two receives is that it did not offer as many Digital Sound Fields as the Sony and Technics, but in my opinion who needs 30-40 if none of them sound that good.
If you value sound and pure listing enjoyment this is the receiver for you. Pair it with the JBL S38 studio speakers and you'll have a wonderful home stereo for watching movies or listening to music.
