Simply put, I bought this receiver after seeing the price and hearing it. The fact that it was a Yamaha made the choice easier. I have had it for a year now, and I am not compelled to replace it any time soon. It is rated 70W X 5, but wait till you hear the sound, and it will seem the receiver is under-rated.
Straight out, there are three things that I don't like about the receiver, manual bass, treble controls, the remote, and no S-Video inputs. That said, the receiver kicks butt. It took me three hours to tune it the way I wanted, but after that, well, there is no one who has seen a movie at my house who was not amazed. The injustice you can do this receiver are poor speakers. Invest and you won't be disappointed. One thing I learnt quickly is that the bass and treble control have little effect on the sound. Apart from that, music sounds like you are there (depends like I said on the speakers) movies blow you away. If there is anyone out there who is dissappointed with the sound, or the receiver, this I say: check your speakers!
