| smrgol's Full Review: JBL D38 Speaker |
I found an unbelievable value in these. It is simply not possible to get this sound quality for less money. At 175 watts and 92db, these speakers can go very loud.
Bass is very tight, esp. for bass reflex enclosures. Mids are clear. Highs are crisp. For their slightly large size, a frequency range bottoming out at 50 hz seems a bit shallow. However, the bass is clean and tight all the way down. If you need to feel explosions and other extremely deep bass, just add a decent subwoofer.
(I added a BIC America D1010R to mine.)
These speakers are very sturdy, with solid wood construction. The cable connectors are good. The grills are a bit flimsy, though the mesh material seems very fine.
Be careful not to put these speakers against a back wall: the ports are in the back.
