| MishutkaGamer's Full Review: JBL D38 Speaker |
OK well I'm writing a review on THIS speaker, unlike the other guy who'd posted a review on this, and i just gotta tell you that this speaker (pair) is plain great, as mentioned in the title. Now I'm not a music freak who knows every single thing about this kind of stuff, but i know enough to make a conclusion on this. Here's a list of specs for it:
Sensitivity dB @ 1m/2.83V: 92
Impedance (ohms): 8
Bass Driver: 8"
Midrange Driver: 4"
High Frequency Driver: 2"
Power Rating: 10 - 175 watts
Dimensions HxWxD: 16 3/4 x 10 3/4 x 12"
Frequency Response: 50 - 20kHz
All of ya might not know what all this means, but lets just say that 175 watts per such a small speaker when compared to other speakers in its power rating category. Even tough its a little big to be called "bookshelf" , it delivers 30-40 more watts than Yamaha NS-A638, which only delivers 140 watts per speaker for the same price. As far as I'm concerned, the JBL works perfectly with my Yamaha RX-496 receiver and CDC-575 CD changer (soon to be reviews on those). The sound quality is great, and if you put the receiver on mute and put the volume to the max and then turn off the mute- expect to be blown off your feet!!! This baby is damn powerful. Its made with solid wood package, a satin cover for the grille and a JBL logo on the speaker-what more do you want?!
NOTE: While this speaker was replaced by the Northridge series speakers, you can still find it at stores like J&R and if you don't, go run a search on dealtime.com, which will give you even lower prices.
