| glock-user's Full Review: Polk Audio RT15i Speaker |
I bought my first set of Polk RT15i as rears for my home theater. When I needed a small set of speakers as replacements for my mini system I auditioned speakers by KLH, Wharfedale, Sony, etc. before (just for the heck of it) hooking my Polk RT15i from my home theater system. I was amazed!
Having used them only as rears, and Polk RT25i as fronts, I was very surprised at the amount of sound I found from them. They beat EVERY other speaker I tried for sound qualify and depth hands down. They image better, have more defined and balanced tone accross the sound spectrum. I cannot say enough good about them. I didn't think a "bookshelf" speaker could sound so good.
Another winning feature is that they come with mounting brackets pre-installed and go on the wall easily. They are a very well built, solid performing speaker. You should be able to find them around $150 a pair if you shop around. Polk has a unilateral pricing structure that is meant to discourage authorized dealers from under-pricing them. This makes it hard to find a truly low price on them, but they are worth every cent you pay. They carry a five year warranty and fit well into tight spaces. I was thinking of adding a subwoofer to this system because given the amount of space I have for it, I figured I would need it. I don't at all. These reach down low enough to provide a very satisfying real bass sound. They don't sound hollow or boxy like others did. If you need a set of speakers for anything, I couldn't think of a better choice.
KLH reference series (model 16 or 18) are decent second choice, but they aren't for mounting (which I needed) and they dont have brackets already installed, so any money you appear to save is eaten up by these little speakers. A clear value.
