Pros: Nice satellites, good midrange and highs for price
Cons: Bass is too perceivable and has too much port noise ruining imaging and bass info.

| soundspy's Full Review: JBL SCS125A Speaker System |
These speakers (actually a system) have amazing highs and mid.s thanx to their very nice, well designed (and asthetically appealing) form.
But the bass.... hummmm... here's where i have always had a problem with JBL... always keeping it's reputation...
Yes many may argue that the sub is good due to it's enormous rumbling bass, but rumble, thumping and thunderous bass are not characteristics you want in a good sub.
Ideally a sub should be an acoustically indistinguishable component in the sound, adding to the satellites in the lows. But as soon as you get the rumbling you can pinpoint the sub and imaging is lost, as well as any nice sharp, punchy bass information ie: a snare drum, the first impact of a tympanee etc.
If you can find them, buy the satellites and invest in a good sub, let me suggest paradigm and d-box, if you can find them.
Brad.
