| matt80227's Full Review: JVC XV-501 DVD Player |
This was my first DVD player and I have always been a fan of JVC equipment.
This particular machine took my fancy and was on sale, 450 down to 250 so I snapped it up and started enjoying DVD's.
The play quality was nice and I really didn't have any issue with it until recently.
The picture started to distort and yes the DVD's were clean (even the Disney ones). It just seemed to be generally unhappy with itself.
Well not long after it selected the movies I was going to watch and those I wasn't it turned up it's toes and bid me a fond fairwell.
It wouldn't even play CD's which it had done during it's short and annoying 'illness'.
I took it in for repair and was quoted about 200 which, when you consider their low end Progressive Scan runs at about 230 isn't that great of a deal.
So I decided I might just give it away to charity and maybe someone could fix it on a budget.
But that isn't the end of my story, recently my wife pointed out www.dvdsettlement.com
It seems that a number of Panasonic and JVC DVD players have been dying very early in life.
The settlement is for several models including this one and gives you 3 options, $100 of repairs, $50 rebate on something else or an extended warranty.
Check it out and I hope this helps.
