| garyo's Full Review: JVC XV-501 DVD Player |
I purchased the XV-501BK as our first DVD player to match the other JVC components (Dolby A/V receiver, TV, CD player) in my A/V system. JVC components can share a JVC-proprietary Compulink(TM)connection that integrates the components together. For example, if you select the CD button on the receiver, the CD player automatically turns on.
The specs on the player are pretty good.
- Compatible with DVD video, CD and Video CD.
- High-bit/high-sampling (10-bit/27MHz video) D/A converter.
- Component Video, Composite Video, and S-Video terminals.
- 1-bit P.E.M. D.D. Converter with 96kHz/24-bit audio resolution
- VFP (Video Fine Processor) for fine picture adjustment.
The negatives:
- This model has been acknowledged by JVC customer service to be defective in that it does not play certain DVDs, it freezes the screen, and has other viewing problems.
- JVC refers complaints about this model to www.dvdsettlement.com.
