| lr94498's Full Review: JVC XV-501 DVD Player |
Initially I bought this unit for the feature-full package and under the high recommendation of the sales person, the zoom feature, DTS, picture sharpness feature and the jvc name. Once at home the set up was easy and we began watching our first movie, after approximately 30 minutes into the movie everything froze, try as i may to get the unit to respond to both remote controller and then manual controls, nothing. I had to unplug the unit from the wall to get it to restart the movie and it would happen again. I thought maybe it was overheating so I placed it in another location- same thing happened again and again. This became quit embarrassing as friends would come over to watch movies on my new dvd player and find that I was having to unplug it to get it to work right.
I returned the unit to the store , they assured me that the new unit was a revised unit from jvc and that it would be good to go... same problems!
returned it again, exchanged for a new pioneer and haven't had a problem since.
I would advise strongly against this product, not only did the product turn out to be a lemon, jvc's customer service is very poor! the free headphones you are supposed to receive via mail in coupon never made it to me and any attempt to contact jvc went unheeded- stay away from this one!
